Located on the eastern side of Mackinac Island, Mission Point Resort offers some of the best views of Lake Huron.

The resort’s beautifully landscaped gardens add to the picturesque scenery, and the 18-hole miniature golf course overlooking the Straits of Mackinac is a highlight.

For an unforgettable experience, I recommend signing up for the guided sunrise hike at the resort.

I did it one morning, and it was so peaceful and magical watching the sun rise over the water. It’s the perfect way to start your day on the island!

2. The Great Lawn

One of the unique features of Mission Point Resort is the Great Lawn—a spacious area perfect for relaxing, playing yard games, or enjoying the view from the famous white Adirondack chairs.

It’s an ideal spot for families to unwind and soak up the serenity of Mackinac Island.

In the evening, we spent time on the lawn while our kids ran around and played games. The sunsets here are simply stunning.

Expert Tip: Borrow complimentary lawn games like bocce ball, cornhole, and croquet from the resort’s bicycle rental shop for some extra fun!

3. Mission Point Resort’s Historic Charm

Mission Point Resort is filled with history, and you can feel it as you walk through the property.

From the impressive architecture to the charming lobby with its tall ceilings and wooden beams, the resort’s historic charm is evident at every turn.

We loved exploring both the grounds and the interior of the resort, where we discovered pictures, maps, and historical displays about the resort’s rich past.

4. Great Restaurants and Dining Options

Mission Point Resort boasts three full-service restaurants along with coffee shops and to-go food options.

What’s even better? Kids eat free with your stay, which is a huge money-saver on Mackinac Island.

We especially enjoyed the Round Island Kitchen, which offers a great kids’ menu and a welcoming atmosphere.

For a more relaxed meal, we also loved Bistro on the Greens, where you can dine outdoors while overlooking the golf course and the Straits of Mackinac.

If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, Chianti offers a formal 5-course prix fixe menu. But, keep in mind, Chianti is not part of the kids eat free program.

Mom Tip: If you have younger kids with you, Round Island Kitchen and Bistro on the Greens are going to be the best options for your family!

5. Tons of Family Friendly Amenities

Mission Point Resort is packed with amenities that the whole family will love.

From the outdoor pool and hot tubs to a small arcade, there’s something for everyone.

The Kids Club, available daily from 4:30–7:00 pm, is a great option for parents to enjoy a date night while their kids have dinner and activities.

The resort also offers bike rentals, a fitness center, tennis courts, and guided tours of the gardens and the resort’s history.

Mom Tip: Renting bikes from the resort is super convenient, especially if you plan on riding around Mackinac Island. It’s one of our favorite activities!

• Dog-Friendly: Mission Point Resort is the only dog-friendly resort on Mackinac Island, so you can bring your furry friend along on your vacation!

• Unique Location: The resort sits on M-185, the only state highway in the U.S. where cars are banned—how cool is that?

• Boxwood Coffee Shop: For a quick breakfast, snack, dessert, or cocktail, check out Boxwood Coffee Shop. Enjoy your coffee on the deck overlooking the Great Lawn and the Straits of Mackinac.

• Proximity to Attractions: Mission Point Resort is just a 10-minute walk from Arch Rock and 15 minutes from Shepler’s Ferry Dock.

• Baggage Handling: The resort’s baggage handling service takes care of transporting your luggage from the ferry to your room and back, but be sure to give the bellhop a 2-hour window for luggage transfer.

• Getting to the Resort: There are two options for getting to and from the ferry docks: a 15-minute walk or a horse taxi for $8 per adult (cash only). You must call ahead to reserve a taxi, as they are not hailed on the street.

Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island is truly the best

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Mission Point Resort during our stay at Mackinac Island. 

I loved that it was a little bit further from downtown. It felt more serene being on the end point of the island. 

Mission Point Resort offers its guests so many great activities and amenities while the views are absolutely breathtaking.
