Have you been to the Des Moines area’s newest adventure play place for kids? It is Kids Empire and is located in the Jordan Creek area in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Kids Empire, as the name implies, is a place where kids RULE! There are so many super exciting obstacles, slides, mazes, climbing apparatuses, and more.

This thrilling play place definitely is a kids empire.

After visiting Kids Empire at Jordan Creek with my kids, I can tell you that I definitely recommend it and that we will be going back for future visits!

Where is Kids Empire Jordan Creek located?

Kids Empire is located just off Mills Civic near Petco, Old Navy, Best Buy, and DSW. It is in a very convenient location as it is close to the Jordan Creek Mall and many restaurants such as Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, McAlister’s Deli, and Noodles & Company.

What is the admission price for Kids Empire?

Admission is $19.90 per child. Two adults can enter for free with each child. Each additional adult costs $5.

They do have a punch card for purchase that is $159 for 10 admissions.

What are the hours for Kids Empire at Jordan Creek?

Kids Empire is open every SINGLE day, even holidays. It opens at 10am everyday.  Kids Empire is open until 8pm Monday through Thursday and until 10pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday plus holidays.

What ages are best to play at Kids Empire?

All ages are welcome to play at Kids Empire. Personally, I think the “sweet spot” for ages to play at Kids Empire is 3-10 year olds.

This does not mean that older children cannot have a fun time here. I just think that kids ages 3-10 would enjoy themselves the most!

Additionally, it is important to note that Kids Empire does have a tot area as well!

Can I bring food to Kids Empire?

No outside food or drink is allowed at Kids Empire, but they do have a snack shop with a wide array of snacks that kids will love.

The snack shop has everything from ice cream treats to candy to chips. They also have what they call a Jamwich (Uncrustable), string cheese, Gogurt, applesauce pouches, and pudding.

Additionally, beverage options include a variety of juices, water, soda, energy drinks, Gatorade, and milk.

They also have drinking fountains available.

It is also important to note that when you pay your admission to Kids Empire, you can leave the facility and return later in the day. This means that you can take the family and go grab lunch somewhere in the area, and then go back to Kids Empire when you are finished.

What can I expect when visiting Kids Empire?

After paying admission to Kids Empire, you can pick up a small basket to hold your shoes and other personal belongings.

Next, a team member from Kids Empire will let you through the entrance gate, and you can put your basket of belongings and any valuables in the shelves or a free locker. Now you are ready to play!

Kids Empire has two main play zones. One is designated for kids with diapers. I would say this play zone is for 0-3 years old. In this zone, there is a ball pit, lots of soft mats, and a smaller climbing apparatus and slides.

The second play zone is more for ages 4 and up. If your child is on the younger side of that age group, I would stay with your child or make sure a responsible older sibling is with them.

This larger play zone is a humongous maze with so many fun obstacles such as balance beams and bridges, slides, climbing spots, and other challenges.

My favorite part of this play zone is the elevated turf field. Kids can play soccer on this turf and be up in the “air” when doing so!

Another attraction I love in this play zone is the Sledge Run. For the Sledge Run, you ride down this rolling slide on a small sled-like apparatus. It is really fun!

Besides the two major play zones, there is also a dance room with lights and disco balls.

Additionally, Kids Empire has a Moto Speedway where visitors purchase a playcard to use to ride different vehicles. There is a small track that children can drive various vehicles around. Two people can fit on each vehicle.

Finally, if your kids are getting a bit hungry and need a snack, you can visit the snack shop. There are numerous tables and even high chairs to sit at for a rest or to have a snack.

When you are ready to leave, make sure to grab your belongings and a Kids Empire team member will open the gate for you.

If you plan to return the same day, make sure to let a team member know you are leaving and plan to return. It is also a good idea to save your receipt to re-enter for some more fun!

What else do I need to know for my visit to Kids Empire at Jordan Creek?

  • Make sure to fill out the waiver online ahead of time. This will save you time when you get there. You can access the waiver here.
  • Kids Empire only takes cards so make sure you have some sort of credit or debit card with you.
  • Everyone must wear socks past the entrance gate while in the facility. This is a rule to keep things more sanitary and clean. If you do not have them with you, socks are available for purchase for $3.00.
  • Lockers are available for free to keep your valuables.
  • There is a locked gate at the entrance to the play facility so kids will not be able to go past the gate without an adult and a Kids Empire team member opening it. This is a great safety feature!

Top Tips for Visiting Kids Empire

  1. Fill out the waiver ahead of time.
  2. Bring your credit card
  3. Make sure you have socks with you. This is especially important in the summer when you might be wearing sandals. Everyone must wear them even if you are only spectating.
  4. Keep a close eye on your younger kids. The larger maze structure can be very intimidating for young kids especially if it is busy and there are many older kids.
  5. If you are bringing younger kids ages 4 and under, I would consider having more than one adult with you or at least have a responsible older child that can help. If both kids stay in the toddler zone you would be okay on your own, but if you have any kid that is wanting to do the bigger maze area, you will want two adults.
  6. The Power Tower which is the humongous climbing tower can be very dangerous for younger kids. My three-year-old who is a very good climber wanted to climb it, and I would not let him. He could easily slip through the holes.
  7. Save your receipt and let a team member know if you want to leave and re-enter the facility. This is a great way to really get your money’s worth when visiting Kids Empire.

I am so thrilled to have Kids Empire at Jordan Creek. It is a fantastic addition to the community and gives families another fun option of a place to play and be active.

If you are simply visiting the Des Moines area for a short time, I highly suggest checking out Kids Empire. It will be an exciting addition to your trip!
