  • Best Walkable Downtown Hotel: Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg – Just steps from downtown attractions like Anakeesta and Ripley’s Aquarium. Spacious suites, three pools (indoor, outdoor, and kids’), and easy walkability make it a great fit for families who want to be close to the action without constantly loading into the car.

Getting Around the Area

Traffic gets busy, especially during holidays or weekends.

I you are staying downtown Gatlinburg you will be able to walk to some of the attractions there otherwise plan to drive or use the trolleys:

We like to start our days early to beat the rush (as long as I can get my older boys moving!)

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

Award-winning and packed with interactive exhibits, this is a must.

The Penguin Parade and Penguin Playground were highlights for our kids!

Anakeesta

A mountaintop theme park with treehouse play areas, rope bridges, the AnaVista Tower, mountain coasters, ziplining, and more.

We rode the Chondola up and the Ridge Rambler down—two fun experiences in one!

We didn’t plan this—but our kids noticed the bear statues all around town and made it their mission to pose with every single one. Instant (and free) entertainment!
